Happy Madness Day everyone! The iconic third episode of Madness Combat is now released in Madness Genesis. There was also a few bug fixes along the way. Hope you all enjoy.

It has been a long while since the last update but finally here is the second episode of Madness Combat added to Madness Genesis. I sought to make a faithful playable recreation of it and I'm happy with how it turned out, and I hope you all will be happy to play it too. Episode 1 was also made to be easier as I saw a lot of people were having trouble with the sheer amount of enemies at once. I've also added a little sound indicator whenever you pick up a weapon.

About the large gap in updates, I've held a job in which I worked 8 hours a day 5 days a week, and so I had very little time to work on the game. Alongside my job, I've also been playing Noita and Rain World constantly in my free time. I left my job just last Friday, so now I'll have a lot of free time to work on the upcoming episode 3.

Again thank you everyone for playing my game and thank you for reading this.

Happy Holidays! Here comes the very first episode of Madness Combat in Madness Genesis form. This also doubles up as a tutorial for the rest of the game, which has yet to come out. Took a while as the stage is, coding wise, very different and also due to lack of spare time, but hopefully the rest of the episodes will come out at a much faster rate. Other changes include:

  • A more streamlined menu system.
  • Volume sliders.
  • A buff to knives so that they kill grunts in one hit.
  • Quick restart is now turned off by default.

Once again, thank you to everyone who left nice comments, you guys are the reason that I continue to work on and update this game.

Hello everyone. I hope you all are enjoying my newly released game Madness Genesis, but if you aren't, hopefully this quick no-content patch solves things. Here are a list of the changes made, and my discussion/thoughts on them.

  • Enemies cannot shoot while in doorways, and only can shoot after entering the room past the door.

Originally this was intended for more difficulty and to discourage camping outside of doors, however the general consensus is that the game is far too hard with this feature. It was also super unfair when they spawn and instantly kill you just because you're standing on the second layer. I'm sure some players like me prefer the difficulty, but this change had to be made to make the game more accessible.

  • Hank now has 5 HP instead of 3.

Hank originally had 3 HP to keep it the same as the grunts as he was one of them but in an effort to make the game a bit more forgiving, he now has 5 HP and can take a few bullets and cuts. Shotguns and rifle bursts will still most likely kill you quickly though, so be wary of that. This balance change will also better reflect future levels, where agents are the main enemies.

  • Menu

A pause menu has been added, which allows for restarting the room, game, seeing the controls, adjusting the volume, disabling quick restart and finally, fullscreen. To all those who had trouble playing the game because of the sheer size of the screen, I hope this helps, as I couldn't get an adjustable resolution feature to work quite yet. The game is simply that large because that is what I've been testing on, and I lack experience and knowledge to account for smaller resolutions. Esc to open and close the menu, but because Esc also exits fullscreen, Backspace will also do the same.

  • Guns will no longer fire past grunts if you are too close.

This one was an easy fix, both to go through with, and to implement. Bullets no longer spawn from the end of the barrel and instead around your chest area.

  • Quick restart

Pressing R now restarts the room in an instant. This feature can be disabled in the options in case you press it accidentally when trying to pick up weapons.

Feel free to ask questions and such in the comments, and thank you to everyone for both the kind words and the criticisms.
